Dearest Congregants,
Our hearts and minds still struggle to find sense in the events of, and since, October 7, 2023. Even more difficult, still, is the commemoration of such events while we continue to be immersed in their day-to-day reverberations. While we have yet to experience even a single moment of closure to that day, our tradition provides us with a pathway for finding moments of reflection, even in the face of continued upheaval. Thus, as we approach both the secular and Hebrew one-year anniversaries of the tragedies of October 7th and the aftermath, we invite you to join us in community, as together we search for strength, solace, comfort, and resilience.
We begin on the secular anniversary, Monday, October 7th by sharing with our regional partners and organizations for community-wide events. Then, we continue with more intimate moments here at Temple Har Shalom during the holidays, concluding with our commemoration of the yahrzeit on Simchat Torah on Friday, October 25th.
Please look for more detailed information about each of these programs in our weekly e-mail blast and website.
B’Shalom,
Rabbi Randi Musnitsky, D. Min. | Rabbi Joshua Greenbaum | Cantor Marina Shemesh |

SPECIAL EVENTS AT TEMPLE HAR SHALOM |
Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:30pm During Yizkor, our Afternoon Service of Remembrance, we will honor the memories of our personal loved ones together with the communal recitation of prayers and reflections for those whose lives were brutally cut short on and after October 7th. Please note that this Service is recommended for those 6th grade and older. Remember to register for your High Holy Day tickets by visiting http://templeharshalom.org/hhd.
Friday, October 25, 2024, 7:00pm Our holiday season concludes on Shabbat Simchat Torah. As we mark the official one-year anniversary of October 7th, we re-roll our Torah scroll to begin again, reaffirming our resilience that even in the face of tragedy, our dedication to our people and faith will not wane. Then in grand celebration, we will dedicate and bring to life a commissioned art installation by famed Israeli artist Smadar Livne, (who will be present), located by the entrance of our Sanctuary, to honor the life of our member and a true Jewish, Israeli, and American hero, Fred Biermann. Hear his story, honor his legacy, and rejoice in his achievements. |
