HHD Service Descriptions

Selichot Around the Campfire – Saturday, August 28th at 6:00 PM: We will prepare our hearts for the High Holy Days in a short, contemporary musical Service as the sun sets. Weather permitting, we will be outside around a campfire; we encourage you to BYOC (bring your own chair). Enjoy a lite boxed dinner and s’mores.

Evening Services: Our evening Services will be infused with an array of music and liturgy that speak to our entire community and will bring us into the New Year. This will include our inspiring Erev Yom Kippur Service which begins with the beautifully haunting melody of Kol Nidre. As we each reflect on this powerful prayer, we can set our intentions for 5782.

  • Erev Rosh HaShanah: Monday, 9/6 at 7:30 PM
  • Kol Nidre – Erev Yom Kippur: Wednesday, 9/15 at 7:30 PM

Multi-generational Services: Our Multi-generational Services will be designed for adults and children alike to share together. They will be filled with meaningful prayers and music that will help us to reflect on the past year and inspire us to move forward with the sound of the Shofar.

  • Rosh HaShanah First Day: Tuesday, 9/7 at 9:00 AM
  • Rosh HaShanah Second Day: Wednesday, 9/8 at 10:30 AM

Traditional Services: These Services will offer a traditional worship experience that will include contemporary elements infused throughout. The liturgy will highlight three important themes of season: Tefilah (prayer); Teshuvah (repentance); and Tzedakah (responsible giving or charity). The sound of the Shofar will remind us that we join together as a community both in celebration and in renewal.

Shabbat Shuva – Friday, 9/10 at 7:00 PM: We will reflect on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 at this Shabbat Service. We will also remember the loved ones who have been commemorated with new memorial plaques in the past two years with a special unveiling.

High Holy Days Tot Shabbat – Saturday, 9/11 at 10:00 AM: We’re throwing a birthday party for the world! This Tot Shabbat will include Shabbat and High Holy Days favorites and teach kids how to say “I’m sorry.” We’ll celebrate the start of the New Year together with singing, crafts, snacks, and a story. This Service and program are geared towards children ages 0 – 5 years and their families. Older siblings are also welcome.

Yom Kippur Afternoon Service, Yizkor and Neilah – Thursday, 9/16 at 4:00 PM: These three Services flow seamlessly from one to the next. We will begin with the liturgy designed for the afternoon of Yom Kippur. Yizkor, the Memorial Service, follows. This holy day closes with Neilah – the short concluding Service which features some of the most beautiful and sacred liturgy of the High Holy Days.

Yom Kippur Family Havdalah – Thursday, 9/16 at 6:00 PM: We end our High Holy Days with the sweetness of our glow stick Havdalah, the separation between the penitential season and the promising New Year ahead. Weather permitting, this Service will take place outside in our Rain Garden.
